Yoga

Yoga is led by an instructor who has been specifically trained to work with people with a variety of mobility abilities.  It is a tool used to improve strength, posture, balance and breathing techniques.   Yoga works to improve physical health and wellness while relieving stress and anxiety.

Music Class

This program involves a certified facilitator who uses music to accomplish the creative and expressive goals that are individualized to each person.  It is used to improve mental, emotional and overall well-being.  Music can be beneficial in so many ways because it is processed in both the left and right hemispheres of the brain.  It is a multi-sensory activity that incorporates the visual, kinesthetic, auditory and tactile systems.

Cooking Class

Intended for those  who have the desire and need to learn and improve on their skills in the kitchen.  The class is designed to encourage the development of life skills that are necessary or desirable for full participation in everyday life, independence and socialization.  It not only allows them to be independent, it provides an opportunity to put other skills such as mathematics and reading to use in a functional way.

Art/Craft Class

This class is intended to provide individuals the opportunity to express themselves creatively.  Having an artistic outlet improves emotional/mental well-being as well as gross motor skills, visual-spatial skills and focus.

Recreational Activities

TSEN provides people with opportunities to participate in a variety of recreational activities such as going to the YMCA to swim/workout, bowling, billiards, soccer and basketball.  These are great opportunities to stay active, practice teamwork and build friendships.

Women’s/Men’s Group

Men and women meet monthly to discuss various topics relating to physical, emotional and mental well being.
